Domain Management#

Everyone in the galaxy needs an address. Zaphod Beeblebrox's address might be "everywhere," but yours is probably something like yourcompany.com — and that address needs maintenance.

Domain List#

Under Domains, everything at a glance:

  • Status — active, expired, pending transfer
  • Expiry date — the date you should put in your calendar. It comes before the end of the universe, usually.
  • Auto-renewal — when it's on, we remember even if you forget. More reliable than Deep Thought.

DNS Management#

DNS is the internet's phone book. When visitors type your domain, DNS determines where they end up. Configure it wrong, and your visitors end up in a digital wasteland — and there are no restaurants there.

To add a record:

  1. Select the domain from the list
  2. Click the DNS Management tab
  3. Click New Record to get started

Record Types#

Type What it does Example
A Points your domain to an IPv4 address 93.184.216.34
AAAA Points your domain to an IPv6 address 2001:db8::1
CNAME Points one domain to another domain www.example.com
MX Determines where emails go mail.example.com
TXT Verification and security records v=spf1 include:...
NS Defines which name servers your domain uses ns1.veriteknik.com

A note about NS records

Misconfiguring NS records is like writing your home address on another planet. The postman arrives, looks around, shrugs, turns back. Your emails do the same thing. Be careful.

Use VeriTeknik DNS#

On the domain detail page, you'll see a Use VeriTeknik DNS button. Clicking it automatically points your domain's nameserver records to VeriTeknik's PowerDNS infrastructure.

When to use it:

  • When you want to move your domain to VeriTeknik's DNS infrastructure
  • When you want to manage your DNS records directly from our panel
  • When you want a one-click nameserver change instead of copying them manually

Nameserver change propagation

Nameserver changes can take 24–48 hours to propagate across the internet. During that time, some visitors may see the old servers, others the new ones. Don't panic — it's an unavoidable feature of the universe.

Contact Info and WHOIS Privacy#

Every domain's registrant information is stored in the WHOIS database. In the Contact Info tab on the domain detail page, you can update your registrant, administrative, and technical contact details.

WHOIS Privacy#

When WHOIS privacy is enabled, personal information like your name, email address, and phone number is hidden from public WHOIS lookups. VeriTeknik's privacy service information is shown instead.

WHOIS privacy recommended

We recommend keeping privacy enabled for personal domains. Getting bombarded with spam emails is about as pleasant as listening to Vogon poetry.

Domain Renewal#

  1. Go to the domain detail page
  2. Click Renew
  3. Select duration (1-10 years)
  4. Complete payment

Watch the expiry date

Renew at least 30 days before expiry. Expired domains enter a redemption period — it's like the Vogon demolition fleet showing up at your house: technically reversible, but nobody wants to go through it. Turn on auto-renewal, grab your towel, sleep well.

Auto-Renewal#

When the Auto-Renewal toggle is on, payment is automatically taken from your balance before expiry and the domain is renewed. Turn it off and the responsibility falls on you — and the universe is indifferent to your problems.

Domain Transfer#

To transfer a domain from another registrar to VeriTeknik:

  1. Get your transfer (EPP/auth) code from your current registrar
  2. Unlock the domain
  3. Go to Domains > Transfer and enter the domain name and auth code
  4. Confirm via the verification email

Transfer duration

Domain transfers typically take 5–7 business days. Your existing DNS records are preserved throughout — you don't need to change your nameservers before the transfer completes.
