VPS and AI server management: frequently asked questions

Answers about purchasing, connections, permissions and server operation. See the VPS page for current resource options and the MCP guide for client setup.

A. ChatGPT and connection

Can I manage my VPS in Turkey with ChatGPT?

Yes. Connect your VeriTeknik VPS to ChatGPT through MCP to inspect its status, resources, services and logs, and make supported changes within your permissions and server policy. Morpheus access must be enabled on the server. Custom connectors and write support in ChatGPT depend on your plan and workspace settings; not every account offers the same actions. Buying a new VPS or domain is unavailable through the ChatGPT connection. See ChatGPT VPS management for scope and connection steps.

Does buying a VPS automatically connect ChatGPT?

No. A VPS order does not open any assistant connection. An owner or admin must enable the company's MCP switch, which is off by default, on the consent screen or under Settings > Agent Connections, and you must add the connector in your client. Server tools also need Morpheus access. For a server ordered with Morpheus, this is provisioned automatically after boot; the CogMem-AI data-processing addendum must be accepted once in the hub. Otherwise, enable access in the hub. The MCP setup guide explains these two separate access controls.

How do I connect ChatGPT?

In ChatGPT settings, add the VeriTeknik MCP address where custom MCP servers (connectors) are added; the address is in the connection steps section. Turn on developer mode first if your account requires it; OpenAI renamed these menus several times in 2026, so check the current path in OpenAI's article. Then sign in on the VeriTeknik consent screen and choose your company, permission groups and monthly spend cap. If 2FA is enabled, enter your current code on that screen. The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration and lasts 90 days. Your company's MCP switch and, for server tools, Morpheus access must be on.

Which server operations can I perform from ChatGPT?

You can inspect server status, resources, services, firewall status, bandwidth, monitoring status, logs, directories and readable files, search files and run read-only commands. You can also query backup inventory, the catalog and cost estimates. With suitable permissions, supported changes include adding, updating and deleting DNS records, SSL setup, static site publishing, creating and listing snapshots, starting, stopping and restarting servers, and previewed admin commands. Server policy and your client's write support still apply. See the operations section.

Which operations require the panel instead of chat?

Increasing or decreasing CPU and RAM, growing a disk, reinstalling, resetting a password and restoring a snapshot require the panel. Disks cannot shrink; restoring a snapshot overwrites current data. Dangerous admin commands such as mass deletion, disk formatting and user removal are refused through chat. New VPS orders and domain registrations are also unavailable through the ChatGPT connection; use the panel to purchase them. See the panel-only operations section for these boundaries.

Can I use this without Linux or SSH skills?

You can start by reading status and logs; the assistant explains findings and shows admin commands before running them. You still decide whether a change is appropriate. Basic knowledge of Linux, services, files and backups helps you assess the output; an assistant does not replace the skills needed to operate a production system independently. Dangerous commands are refused, and server policy can restrict other commands too. Use the support channels if you are unsure about a change.

Is managing a VPS with ChatGPT the same as running an AI model on it?

No. An MCP connection lets a client such as ChatGPT manage your server; it does not install the ChatGPT model on your VPS. Hosting your own chat interface or model is a separate application deployment and capacity decision. One-click apps such as Open WebUI + Ollama, LibreChat and AnythingLLM support different uses; if your chosen app calls an external API, its key and fees are separate. Are Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients the same?

No. The ChatGPT connection manages existing resources but does not offer new VPS orders or domain registration. Connections through Claude (Desktop, claude.ai and mobile), Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code + GitHub Copilot also expose those ordering operations. Payment comes from the company's prepaid VeriTeknik balance and is limited by the connection's monthly spend cap. The cap defaults to 0, so ordering stays off until you raise it. B. Example scenarios

Can I investigate why my site is down from chat?

Yes, with suitable access and permissions you can examine server status, resource usage, services, listening ports, firewall status and relevant logs together. Example scenario: check nginx status and its error log, then compare them with disk usage. These findings help investigate the cause; they do not guarantee that a cause will be found or a problem resolved within any time. Changes remain subject to permissions and server policy. If the connection is unavailable, use the panel and support channels.

Can I manage my server from my phone?

Once you set up the Claude connection on the web, you can also use it in the Claude mobile app. Whether custom MCP connectors and write actions are available in the ChatGPT mobile app depends on OpenAI's plan and client support; check OpenAI's connector article (checked: 18.10.2026). Example scenario: asking from your phone for service status and the latest error logs. Changes made from a phone are still subject to connection permissions, admin command previews and the server's Morpheus settings.

Can I read nginx, Docker and application logs?

Yes. Supported logs include nginx and Apache error/access logs, php-fpm, MySQL, PostgreSQL, syslog, authentication, systemd journal by unit, journal errors and Docker container logs. Authentication logs also return a failed-login summary. Each call supports up to 500 lines, a fixed-string filter and a time window for journal sources. File paths under readable roots are supported; credential paths are refused. Example scenario: search recent nginx errors for a specific string. How do I approve updates or service restart commands?

Admin commands are first shown as a numbered plan of up to 10 commands; nothing on the server changes until you approve and the same plan is sent with its 15-minute single-use token. Execution stops at the first failure, is logged with the connection ID and your company is notified. The server's Morpheus tab settings also apply: the Morpheus DevOps Agent must be on. With the default autonomy setting, commands that make changes need 2FA enabled on your account and an unlock from the same tab ("Command lock"); until it is unlocked, they do not run from chat. A more permissive autonomy setting can remove this step. Dangerous commands such as mass deletion or disk formatting never run from chat under any setting.

How much CPU and RAM should I choose for n8n?

We do not give a fixed server minimum for n8n; requirements depend on workflow volume, concurrent executions and the data processed. Start with a small configuration and grow based on observed load. CPU and RAM can increase or decrease in the panel; disks can only grow. Compare current resource prices in the VPS configurator and see n8n among the one-click apps. On a standard VPS, application updates, backups and capacity monitoring are your responsibility; consider the costs of any external APIs separately.

C. Cost and choice

What is the total cost of a VPS and AI management?

You purchase the VPS and selected additional services from VeriTeknik; the current amount depends on your resource choices in the price table and configurator. CPU, RAM, disk, IP addresses, additional disk and any catalog setup fee affect the total. Today there is no separate MCP connection usage fee. A ChatGPT subscription belongs to OpenAI; this connection requires no OpenAI API key or API fee. Apps you separately install on the VPS may have their own API usage charges. The displayed TRY price includes VAT for Turkey billing; foreign billing uses 0% VAT under service export treatment.

Are VAT, monitoring, backups and support included with a VPS?

Uptime and bandwidth monitoring with notifications, SSH key management, snapshots, VNC console and one-click apps are included. Monitoring is provisioned automatically; 24/7 support is available. The displayed TRY price includes VAT for Turkey billing; foreign billing uses 0% VAT for service exports. A snapshot is not an automatic application backup: each server can hold up to 3, subject to storage on its node. You schedule backups on the server. How does ready-made MCP compare with running my own SSH/MCP layer?

With your own layer, you operate and secure the server and agent, keys, authentication, audit records and updates; what you can do depends on your tooling. The ready-made connection provides OAuth consent, permission groups, a spend cap, audit records, hub approvals for destructive operations and server policy together. In return, only supported operations are available; panel-only actions do not become available in chat. Either approach still requires planning who operates your application. How do responsibilities differ between a standard VPS and Managed Services?

On a standard VPS, you are responsible for the operating system, applications, updates and backups on the server. VeriTeknik operates the hardware, virtualization and network infrastructure. Using MCP or an AI assistant does not change that allocation. Managed Services are defined by a separate contract; ownership of application, security, monitoring and backup tasks must be read alongside the contract scope. Review the responsibility matrix and discuss your required scope with support; do not assume a standard VPS order includes managed operation.

How does n8n Cloud compare with n8n on my own VPS?

n8n operates and updates n8n Cloud. When you run n8n on your own VPS, you handle updates, backups, security and capacity; your n8n installation runs on a server in Turkey. Data your workflows send to external services is also subject to those services' terms. The choice depends on who will do the operational work and the capacity you need. D. Permissions and data

Do I give the assistant my root password or SSH private key?

No. You authorize the connection through OAuth; the assistant is not given a root password or SSH private key. Server access uses the Morpheus key installed by VeriTeknik, and credentials are not passed through the model. Password resets happen in the panel; do not embed passwords or secret keys in commands sent through chat. This does not mean that logs or file contents read by tools stay away from the AI provider; review tool-result processing in the privacy explanation.

How do I limit what the assistant can do?

Choose the company, permission groups and monthly spend cap on the consent screen. Later, narrow or widen groups under Settings > Agent Connections > Connected Apps (MCP); widening permissions or raising the spend cap requires recent step-up verification when 2FA is enabled. The spend cap limits orders and defaults to 0. Each server also has Morpheus access, command rules and an autonomy level. Turning off the company MCP switch cuts off all connected apps within one request. See the MCP permissions and connection guide for details.

Which actions need approval, and where can I see records?

DNS, SSL, snapshots and start/stop/restart actions run under connection permissions; stop and restart require explicit confirmation. Admin commands also require plan approval and server policy checks. Separate human approval in the hub applies to destructive tools: server deletion is restricted to MCP-created servers with full-hostname confirmation; hub approval is required except for a disposable server created by that same connection. Clients may ask for additional approval under their own settings. Every tool call is audited. How do I revoke a connection?

Revoke the relevant connection under Settings > Agent Connections > Connected Apps (MCP). Turning off the company MCP switch also cuts off all connected apps within one request. Connections expire after 90 days unless renewed. Revocation or expiry does not delete or stop the VPS, nor change its Morpheus access. Disable that separately in the server's hub settings. Existing audit and command records remain for their stated retention periods.

If the server is in Turkey, where are logs and command outputs processed?

The VPS is in a data centre in Turkey; that does not mean data requested through chat is processed only in Turkey. Tool results, logs, command output and file contents are returned to the AI client; providers such as OpenAI for ChatGPT and Anthropic for Claude process them under their terms and your settings there. VeriTeknik retains audit and command records. Choose which files and logs to request accordingly and limit access through permission groups. How can I roll back if a change goes wrong?

If you took a snapshot before the change, restore it in the panel; this overwrites current data. Each server can hold up to 3 snapshots and its node must have snapshot storage. You can separately use backups you run on the server; chat can inspect the newest file, age, count, size and cron/systemd schedules in backup directories, without opening backup files. DNS values can be changed back. A deleted server cannot be restored. Contact support about the separate backup service; a snapshot is not a backup.

Does my server keep running if the assistant connection drops?

Yes. MCP is only a management channel; revoking a connection, letting it expire or losing access to the AI client does not stop the server. You can continue managing it in the panel. Revocation does not disable Morpheus access on the server either; that is a separate server setting. When the client is available again, use a valid connection or authorize it again if it has expired. The connection guide explains access settings.

E. Purchasing

How long until my server is ready?

Provisioning starts automatically once payment completes; your server is usually ready within minutes and you are notified of its details. The selected operating system or application and provisioning progress can affect timing. Track status in the panel. If you ordered with Morpheus, its access is provisioned separately after boot; a ready VPS does not mean an assistant connection has been opened. See the VPS page for current options.

Which payment methods can I use?

You can use a credit card (3D Secure), account balance or bank transfer/EFT. The panel's payment flow shows the applicable method and any required balance top-up. Clients that support ordering through MCP use only the company's existing prepaid VeriTeknik balance; they do not request card details or add funds. An e-invoice is generated automatically for panel VPS orders paid by card or balance. Usage for VPS servers created through MCP is instead invoiced in company batches. Use the support channels for payment or invoice questions.

What happens to the unused amount if I delete my VPS?

You can delete your server in the panel. Before you confirm, the deletion dialog shows the refund: the unused part of the paid period, excluding VAT and setup fees, goes back to your company's VeriTeknik balance; there is no cash refund to your card. No refund is due for a suspended server, a service with an unpaid invoice or a period that has already ended. Deletion is permanent and the server cannot be restored; export the data you need first. Deletion through MCP is limited to servers created through MCP, with full-hostname confirmation; hub approval is also required except for a disposable server created by the same connection. Which operating systems and apps can I choose?

Options include distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian and AlmaLinux and apps such as WordPress and NextCloud; check current images and versions on the order screen. On the initial order, choose an operating system or an application. Installing an app on an existing server may require a reinstall and erase data; protect your data first. The one-click app catalog shows available options. Resource requirements differ by app; assess the catalog conditions alongside your CPU, RAM and disk selection.

Can I buy a VPS from outside Turkey?

Yes. Foreign billing uses USD or EUR pricing and 0% VAT under service export treatment. Your billing country and company profile are evaluated in the payment flow; changing the interface language does not change your billing country. The displayed TRY price includes VAT for Turkey billing. Check current resource prices in the price table and configurator. If billing or identity details are missing, the panel asks you to complete them before ordering.

Which channels can I use to reach Morpheus?

You can reach Morpheus through the web panel, WhatsApp, Telegram and phone. These are separate access channels from the MCP connector you add to ChatGPT or Claude. Supported operations, user permissions and server policy apply; destructive admin commands remain in the panel. Access to a channel does not mean every action is available there. Which AI apps can I deploy in one click?

Templates include apps such as n8n, Open WebUI + Ollama, LibreChat, AnythingLLM, Flowise, Activepieces, Hermes Agent, OpenClaw and Odysseus AI. Check currently visible options in the one-click app catalog; choose an app when ordering or use the panel's deployment flow. Reinstalling an existing server can erase its data. Hosting these apps is different from using ChatGPT to manage the server through MCP. Plan separately for the app's resources, updates, backups and any external API fees.
